William S. Goree, "Bill," is the founder of William S. Goree, Inc. and made the Superconducting Rock Magnetometer (SRM). He developed the practical use of the SRM with ScT in the 1970s and continued to update it through many renditions to its current liquid helium free version. The paleomagnetic community credits his invention for a huge portion of the research that is conducted in the field.
